Driving on Ko Samui is easy since the main road that goes around the island will lead you to the same place after one lap. There are only 3 sets of traffic lights on major junctions. Getting lost is quite difficult. Narrow roads and houses along both sides of the roads; however, can be dangerous for fast cars since children, motorcycles (some novices) and dogs or cats can surprise you anytime. Our tip is to go slow so there is always time to brake. Recommended maximum speed is 60 Km/h.
For Car and Jeep Rental:
Please contact SES Car Rental at the Tour Office or contact Tongsai Bay Reception. We do not recommend you to hire motorcycles because some of the roads on the island are not in good condition especially when it rains and along some road there is no light during nighttime. Please kindly note that Thai law requires car drivers and front seat passenger to wear seat belts. Also motorcyclists are required to use crash helmets. Lastly, remember to drive on the left.
